what kind of paint can be permanently applied to aluminum alloy car wheels?
I have aluminum alloy wheels that are badly pitted and corroded. Is there a product that can be painted onto alloy to restore the wheels?

- There are paint products available for aluminum alloy wheels, however, they are a bake on plastic polymer and must be baked on. Auto body shops have the capability to use bake viscosity paints and I recommend letting them do it. It may actually be cheaper to buy new wheels than to have the others restored. You could attempt to do it yourself by using a household oven, but, you will have to find the proper paint and follow the directions of the manufacture. I would not recommend getting the wheel too hot as this could cause them to warp. I painted wheels for a wheel company and I believe we used a temp around 180 degrees. You heat the wheels first, apply the coating and then bake again until the paint is set and dry. Be sure to prep areas of the wheel you want painted and mask the areas you want to stay shiny. After painting, they make a bake on clear coat as well. Good luck and hope this helped !
- powder coating would work well. Many colors to choose from.
