I have a 2000 Ford F350 4X4 diesel with single rear wheels. It is paid for and runs strong.?
Is it worth while or difficult to change the rear end out and make it a dually. What kind of problems would I incounter or should I just consider getting a truck that is already a dually. I know this truck and it is strong with mostly highway miles 104,000.

- http://www.chromewheel.com/adaptors.htm There is no difference in the rear end between a single and dual wheel f 350. the only difference is the wheel itself and the fender. Both will bolt right on to your truck. Pick up the wheels and fenders from a junk yard, or use the link at the top.
- Converting over to a different rear end can be done but there will be lots of obstacles. First will be making sure to get the same gear ratio as the front end. Second you will want to get a rear end that is close to the year of your truck to make sure that the suspension points line up. Brake line fittings can be different along with E-brake cables. Will also have to add fender flares to cover up excess tires protruding from the box. Also there can be drive line problems with drive shaft length and u-joint compatability. Not that these will all happen but they are things to consider. If the turck is in good shape would probably be worth your time, effort and money :)
- I agree with Bmod to a point. You would need to change the ENTIRE rear axle assembly, right down to and including, ALL brake parts. You would also need to change the FRONT brake rotors at the very least (DRW and SRW have different offsets), as well as whatever is different between the two applications. You are looking at a considerable expense for what you propose. It's not impossible, but maybe more economically feasible to trade it in for a dually truck, if you so desire. Hope this helps.
