Alloy Wheels??

If your car hasn't got alloy wheels can you put alloy wheels on without having to change the brakes?

  2. Yes but use a torque wrench to tighten the alloys to correct ft/lbs. Wheel nuts unbalanced can fracture the alloy.

  6. Yep. You'll get a better ride, too, because you'll reduce the unsprung weight - the main reason for having them.
  7. yes. most cars can take 17" depending on the make of car. you're local alloy wheel dealer will be able to advise you of size etc.
  8. Its like putting on a different set of wheels, simple as that. Alloy wheels dont effect anything else, just makes your car look slick.

  10. u can put alloys on most cars without any alterations to the brakes. you have to make sure there is enough room for the calipers and they won't snag on balance weights. all wheels have different offsets which need to be correct for your car. this can be found from any reputable wheel stockist. i would recomend you get many quotes and even consider 2nd hand refurbished wheels. because halfords is the biggest certainly doesn't mean you will get the best advice and the cheapest wheels. good luck
