How to clean my car properly? what to use to clean strange stuff on alloy wheels?

I bought my very first car yesterday and it has alloy wheels but i noticed it has like this powdery like substance on them i think its from the brake pads but i dont know im just wondering whats the best product to use to clean them and also the best stuff to use to clean the car, what products to use and in what order and how to. I know it sounds like a kind of dumb question but i am a bit clueless to it all really i just want to keep my new baby sparkling bright!

1. I used to use a product called wonder wheels, I don't know if they still make it.
