How do you remove the shifter from a 1983 toyota 4x4 wheel drive 5 speed,to replace bushings???

Need to replace the bushings in my toyota 5speed 4x4 truck,how do you remove the shifter?Thanks.

  1. On most RWD/4WD vehicles use this procedure: Unscrew shift knob. Remove shift boot. Remove any other junk or insulator in the way. Locate brass/aluminum dome-shaped collar and press down and turn to the left 1/8th turn. It should be free to remove shifter now. Installation is the reverse.
