82 F150 4x4 Not engaging front wheels???! help Please!?

I have a 82 Ford F150 4x4. The 4x4 locks in by the hubs, and there is a lever inside the truck that you switch from 2 wheel, neutral, 4 high and four low. When i switch it to 4x4, a light comes on saying its in 4x4, but the front wheels wont spin, have locked in heads but nothing? Any advice?

1. u sure-front wheels work in direct unison with real wheels. Too be sure,be very careful doing this, jack up rear wheels and see if front wheels will pull the truck. If not is the trans case making any noise, could be chain or gears--driveshaft to front there? If you have locking hubs u might have to kit a repair kit for them.
